Shades of Grey
I took part in the PFC challenge for this month about bending trend hosted by Pandaphilia. For a preview of other bloggers click the link. A new trend that I am loving now is monochromatic. I decided to do grey. I don’t quite think I have 50 shades in the picture but I think I have about 5 shades. I wanted to do a maxi skirt in two ways for day and night. I always do a maxi dress. I got the skirt from one of my friends. She heard me complaining about not having anything to style with grey and she brought it out of her closet. My friends are awesome. You better surround yourself with some good ones.

Preppy Feminine
Blazer: Thrifted(similar); Earrings:Aldo(similar); Jeans: Abercrombie |
I’m back. It feels like I have abandoned my blog but I haven’t, it has just being a busy month. Here is a short explanation. Working on a new job, got a new job, Hurricane Isaac in Louisiana-worked through it, started packing my things to move, and finally moving to San Antonio. All this happened in 1 month. I thank God I survived and He provided. I had been praying since the beginning of the year for a travel nurse opportunity and the door opened. Praise God.

Nigerian Style
As many of you know I am Nigerian. Born full bred Nigerian. This weekend I had the privilege of attending my first Nigerian traditional engagement. It was fun. They make the groom and family put up a lot of money to see the bride. It is just amusing to watch. I decided to go full fledge and tie gele (head wrap) with the outfit. It took great boldness and I had to find one of the older women to tie it in the parking lot for me, but it was worth it. In order to wear the gele, you have to make sure your makeup looks really nice or you will look weird.

Be the Best You
As a nurse the growing trend of obese patients I see is immense. Obese is used to describe a person whose BMI is greater than 30. It troubles me because they face a lot of health risks and emotional needs. How I would love to help them but there is much I could do. It is all dependent on them, they hold the keys to their health. More than one-third of U.S. adults (35.7%) are obese. Overweight and obesity are known risk factors for: diabetes, heart disease, stroke, hypertension, gallbladder disease, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea and other breathing problems, some forms of cancer (uterine, breast, colorectal, kidney, and gallbladder). This post is not about obesity but to help those who need encouragement and a wake up call. You can do it, you just have to put in the work.

Polka Dots
Trend of the Month is pattern mixing by Marionberry. My two loves in one picture polka dots and fitted pants. I love polka dots. I rarely see polka dots in brown and cream pattern. When I saw my mom bought this material, I knew I wanted pants sewn with it. My tailor in Nigeria made this. Being so tall, I have to get most of my pants sewn so they are long and fitted.

Color blocking (Shoe style)
Guest Post: My Sister
When it comes to choosing an outfit for an occasion, I always let my shoes do the picking. I know exactly which shoe I want to showcase and they pretty much determine what I will wear. Shoes are such an intricate part of an outfit that it can turn a drab outfit into a stunning outfit. The current shoe trends for 2012 are downright bold and stylish. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart. With the right shoes on your feet, you almost feel invincible.
My absolute favorite trend is Color block. Ever since I got my first color block dress, I knew I was hooked to this trend. I spent the next couple of months indulging my color block obsession. It started with clothes then graduated to shoes and finally to purses. Went from primary colors to pastels and to pack a mean punch – Neon. One important rule of thumb for color blocking is to never exceed 3 colors at any given time. That way you don’t look like rainbow.
Charlotte Russe is the best place for trendy shoes they always have great sales on their shoes. They sell many trendy shoes and carry most sizes in store or online. Most shoes range from $10-$40 and right now they have buy 1 get one for $10.50, plus $10 off $50 so you might be able to get 2 pairs of shoes for $40.

Say Shorty
Wearing shorts is a no-no for many women. We come up with different reasons not to. My take on shorts is different from what it was 2 years ago. I never used to wear shorts because I was very self conscious about how people would view a tall person like me with shorts on. I thought people would think I was trying to show my body in a promiscuous way. I know the thoughts that flows through our minds. I came to a realization one day it is not what others think about me, but what God thinks about me. I knew my mindset and that is not the message I was sending. Now when I say shorts I do not mean daisy dukes. I had to build my image of myself. After time, I started wearing shorts with confidence and the funny thing was people complemented me about the shorts and how nice it looked on me.

Wonderfully Made
Many people ask me why I started a blog well there are plenty of reasons. One of the many reasons is that I love to help people with their fashion. I meet so many people who are beautiful on the inside but sometimes from the way they dress others do not see that beauty. I know it is not all about what is on the outside, but it does count. When you look amazing, you feel amazing on the inside. I got some of the girls I have had a chance to mentor and went into their closet and created an outfit for them. This post comes in 2 parts: 1. Ways to style shorts for a night look 2. Shorts according to your size and frame (outfit detailed)

Peplum + Aztec
What are your aspirations in life? Did you know you were born with a purpose and are you fulfilling yours? One thing I enjoy doing is helping people find their destiny and encouraging them to reach for it. I love mentoring high school seniors and college students. It gives me great joy especially when after a couple of years of mentoring them they finish what they started or have an idea of their destiny and are fulfilling it. For example, growing deeper in their relationship with God, graduating, getting married, and finally deciding what they want major in in college (this is tough). Took the pictures at my Alma mater LSU in Baton Rouge. I was reminiscing old times at the college. I am thankful that I choose this college. I grew up and experienced life at that school.

Under the sea
Lately I have been challenging myself with my fashion. I decided to take on the challenge by Pretty Shiny Sparkly's Bloggers to style an outfit based on coral and mint. I don’t know why but those colors remind me of The Little Mermaid and I can see Sebastian singing “under the sea”. Weird I know. Coral is the new black, instead of pairing anything with black, think coral instead.

Brights On
Just created a new saying for fashion “turn your brights on” instead of “turn your lights on”. Funny I know (being sarcastic). This summer brights are the colors to wear especially Neon. One thing I like about neon is that it works for all skin tones and makes a person look energized and happy. When you put neon on a dull person they can’t help but to crack a smile. This past week at my church we had a youth conference (Saturate) and it was loaded with neon's. I was excited to go shopping out of my closet for the neon night.

One maxi dress, two ways
This is another one of my creations in Nigeria. I wanted a maxi dress that was long enough and was unique. As you can see my mom knows how to pick great material. When the tailor made the dress at first it was short so I asked him to add extra material in the center to make it longer and I love it.

Intricate Lace
I love lace. I like the many simplicity but intricate (complex) details it brings forth. Another level outside white lace is colored lace, especially when you do color block with it.

Double Trouble
Daytime- Shirt: Old Navy(here); Shorts: Plato’s Closet (similar); Bag: Sisters closet (similar); Watch: Dad’s old work watch; Chain: Delias (similar)
Day to night. Have you ever found yourself trying not to waste two outfits in one day? I do all the time, so what I do is if I have another event to go to I find one item that I can wear to both events. I got this striped Old Navy shirt in medium. The shirt has a beach flow feel to it.In the beginning
Welcome to my blog. Creating this blog has been an idea that has been in my head since January 2012. At my church Bethany World Prayer Center, during the first 21 days of January we pray, fast, worship, read the Bible together and just pray for God’s vision for our life in that year. This is one of the visions He gave me and now I am being obedient. It was a hard process to start I had doubts but I pushed through them. I am a Registered Nurse but if I wasn’t I would have majored in fashion and became a designer. I love everything fashion since high school. In high school my family did not have a lot of money, so I would try to make my clothes not look second hand by doing DIY projects on them. I love to dress myself and other people so in this blog you will not only see fashion on me but also on other people. I want to show people you can look your best at any size and also you don’t always have to spend a lot on clothing. You have to use wisdom to budget and spend within your means. This blog is a way to encourage others and teach practical things I have learned. “Created in His image” comes from:
Genesis 1:27
27 So God created human beings[a] in his own image.
In the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
We all are created in God’s image so we should never try to become another person but try to be the best us we can be. Come along this journey with me and I hope you enjoy it.
FYI: Thanks to my great friend Lakaila for the beautiful pictures you get to see. She is talented. We both pursued something we were passionate about.
